a DESCRIPTION of the music:

Original compositions and arrangements forming an instrumental music in the sphere of new jazz music. Although foremost acoustic in its nature, there are also electronic instruments heard throughout the CD. The music ranges from the very quiet, sparse and calm; like an acoustic guitar playing alone — to the very loud, dense and energetic; like the arrangement of the full seven piece band plus the string orchestra and various overdubbed instruments.

The melodic and the harmonic language of the music is somewhat derived from the Nordic, Scandinavian tradition. One of the nine songs is based around a traditional Greenlandic melody, marking the connection to Christian Vuust’s and my CD
The Thule Spirit (Virgin Records, 1997).

The aims and attempts of the album and its music has been to integrate improvisation with comprehensive compositions; to combine the real-time interaction of the band playing together with plenty of pre and post production including various overdubs; to find a good balance and blend between the acoustic and electric instruments involved; to cover the whole spectrum of overall dynamics; to have the different songs function as one long entity in addition to being separate pieces; to feature each of the soloists in the band; to create a variety of forms, tempos, instrumentations and timbres — in brief: To make music that I myself like to listen to!
